Linda and Ole Olsen (your hosts) live on the property and welcome you to come see why they decided to move from the United States to build their new guesthouse in Plettenberg Bay. Linda is a hotel and resort industry veteran and responsible for the breakfast menu selections you will enjoy. Ole is an Engineer, originally from Denmark, with a history of property management and landscape design. Linda and Ole met in the United States. Their warmth and grace is evident throughout the property. A Note from Linda and Ole: "We have the privilege of living now in Plettenberg Bay (Plett), a place we fell in love with upon our first visit as vacationers years ago. We continued to return over the years. One visit, and you, too, will know why we decided to build our new guesthouse here. Our entire staff welcomes you, and this includes Beau and Dakota, our loving Golden Retrievers who will also happily greet you upon your arrival. Please know that your comfort is of the utmost importance to us and it is our goal to make your stay at Aquavit Guesthouse a memorable one". Aquavit means "Water of Life." It seemed appropriate to choose this name for our guesthouse, as Aquavit is an important drink in the Danish tradition, and our home is surrounded by views of beautiful water. We hope that you will come and share it with us! When we decided to build Aquavit, we wanted to ensure we were doing our part to help the environment and to continuously work on better improving our home. We installed solar panels for hot water, a wireless energy monitor, we have incorporated an area to collect our gray water for our gardens and to enrich the soil naturally with Bokashi, for the recycle of food waste which increases the nutrient levels in the soil. LED lighting and mini fluorescents are used throughout the house and we will continue to strive to ensure Aquavit a Ecco friendly environment.
